PROVIGIL TO FIGHT FATIGUE

Ok so Stan asked me to do this months ago...

Im such a procrastinator I swear.... lol anyway here it is...

I think we all suffer the dreaded MS fatigue, and are slowed down by it, if not completely put down by it.

We are all looking for that 'pick me up' to get us moving or at least to keep us awake.

Unfortunately what works for one doesnt always work for everyone... especially with a disease that affects al of us in it's own way.

It would be nice though to share what works for each of us.

Let me go back abit here...

My fatigue began about ten years ago, I can't say for sure that it was MS fatigue as I was out late most nights.

But looking back I do feel that was the beginning. The fatigue grew steadily worse over the years for me. To the point that I was basically sleeping all day and night.

Regardless of how much mountain dew I drank or how much sleep I already had.
That changed when I was dx'd and started treatment to fight back.
Along with my daily copaxone injection, I take provigil (200mg).

And so far it's working for me.
The first day I took it, I noticed I was walking faster (like I used too). I was able to do sooo much more than I had in years. The tiredness that I did feel that day (from overdoing it) was a foriegn feeling to me... it was 'normal' tiredness.

But.... it's not as simple as just taking a pill.
We have to help ourselves too. There are sooo many contributing factors to fatigue. And trust me Ive stumbled over most of them this past year. Besides taking the provigil daily, Ive found I feel sooo much better when Ive slept well (getting to bed at a decent hour). I feel better when Im happy...

depression causes fatigue too and we all know how easy it is to get depressed with MS. I feel better when I pace myself to get things done rather than overdoing it and putting myself down for a week. I feel better when I dont stress out over things. Easier said than done...

but believe me when I say stress is another major player in MS fatigue. Im not suggesting we all go meditate... though it's not a bad idea lol ... just that we pay more attention to ourselves and maybe breathe when it starts building up.

Hmmmm I should follow that last bit of advice more often O.o
LOL

(((HUGS)))
